Since Sam was on Garden leave for two months, we’ve been trying to plan some trips to take advantage before work got in the way. Rita began teaching, so we were mostly limited to weekend trips. Rita was dying to go to Disney World, after some of her friends went as adults, and the memories she had as a kid. Sukkot gave us the opportunity to take a short Hol Hamoed trip to Orlando and enjoy the park even though we didn’t have any kids. We flew out on Saturday night, and spent 3 days in the parks. We stayed in a Disney hotel and bought a two-day parkhopper pass from Chabad. We planned on going to Universal the other day.
Day 1 – Magic Kingdom
We spent the first day in Magic Kingdom. Highlights were space mountain, buzz lightyear, and monsters inc. We took our fair share of pictures with characters, and caught both the daytime parade, and the night parade with fireworks. Since it was just the two of us, we just went nonstop. At around 6, Sam basically crashed with a terrible headache, but he recovered for more. We ended up staying in the park till just about midnight, which was something we would never be able to experience with kids.
Day 2 – Universal Studios
We took an Uber to Universal, and bought a two-park pass with a fast pass so we could experience the rides in both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in one day. The rides in Universal were much more exciting for adults, including Rockin Rollercoaster, and the Harry Potter rollercoaster. We loved exploring the Harry Potter world, which was so intricate and detailed with fire-breathing dragon, wand shops, and diagon alley. This was Rita’s turn to crash, and she also recovered for more. We even drank some butterbeer. That night, we walked around Downtown Disney.
Day 3 – Epcot and Hollywood Studios
We started the last day in Epcot, with Disney Test Track, and going around the exhibits of the different countries of the world, even having some sushi and beer along the way.
At around 2 o’clock, we went to Hollywood Studios, where we saw Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, and the Indiana Jones show – Rita even volunteered as an extra in the performance! It rained a bit. We rode the tower of terror.
For a night cap, we went back to Magic Kingdom to see fireworks over the castle once again. Before close, we went to ride splash mountain again. Because it was so late, we went on it 3-4 times in a row in empty logs which was so much fun.
